Physician Leads Triathlon Training in Her Spare Time
Dr. Alyse Kelly-Jones, obstetrician/gynecologist with Mintview Women's Care has another mission other than caring for women. She is the leader of Tri It for Life, an organization that helps first-time athletes train for a triathlon, an athletic event in which they swim 250 yards, bicycle 9 miles and run 2 miles.
Tri it For Life was originally founded two years ago as the Ramblin' 100, in which Kelly-Jones attempted to help 100 women share in the health and confidence benefits of triathlons by competing in their first. The Ramblin' Rose is a women's only triathlon held every year in Huntersville. This year's event was held on October 5, 2008.
Kelly-Jones said she was inspired to create the organization because she sees women every day who have time for everyone else in their liveds, but not for themselves.
