Amy Kempfer
From Overweight to Fitness Competitor

I have struggled with my weight my entire life.  Finally, in about 1999 or so one of my friends lost a bunch of weight and that’s when I got turned on to free weights.  I did pretty well with it, but it wasn’t until I changed my diet based on suggestions from other gym members that I really saw results.  Anyhow, some people started telling me I should compete.  And I did, but I didn’t do very well.  It was about this time that I met Roger Morrison.  He told me I had pretty good shape, but I just had not eaten properly enough to keep my metabolism up and I was “skinny” looking.  After that show, Roger was right.  My metabolism was GONE and I gained back 50 pounds.  I was so depressed; I didn’t know what had happened to my body; 3 months prior to that I was standing on stage in a 2-piece.  I decided to go see Roger for some advice.  He explained to me that since I let my metabolism drop so low that I couldn’t tolerate very many calories.  He said, we need to get you metabolism up so you can start to eat more.  EAT MORE???  I always thought to lose weight you needed to eat less.  So, I started working with Roger and dropping weight like crazy.  I didn’t have any cravings and I wasn’t ever hungry.  When I did start to feel some hunger pains, Roger upped my portion sizes and I continued to lose fat.  As fat as I had gotten, I never thought I’d step on stage again.  But I did.  And I placed one place higher than I did the year before.  Now, thanks to Roger’s techniques I have managed to maintain my weight on and off competition season.  I have done 5 more shows since working with Roger and I plan to do two more this year.  Furthermore, I have become a certified personal trainer and I was inspired by Roger.  My clients too have found success through his methods as well. I don’t know if this would be an article you would want to run as a business spotlight or as a physique of the month.  I am 6 weeks out from my next show right now.  I owe all my success to Roger.  His knowledge and techniques are indescribable.  I hope you are willing to do a story on him, I think many readers would find his thoughts informative.
