Paradise
Island Divers owner Wayne Moose has taken the responsibility
of training people to SCUBA dive very seriously since
he began his business 22 years ago. After returning
home to Charlotte after serving as a helicopter pilot
in Vietnam, he realized his life long dream of opening
his own SCUBA business in the South End area of Charlotte.
Paradise Island Divers offers open water SCUBA certification
to a depth of 100 feet. Their staff also offers advanced
through instructor ratings. As part of this instruction,
Wayne spent over $10,000 to produce an interactive home
study program that offers the students the convenience
of studying the academic portion in the comport of his
own home. All the confined water training is preformed
on premises in the ultra-modern 15 foot deep diving
well. Paradise Island Divers also has a fully stocked
retail area with all of the latest SCUBA equipment.
Experienced divers who already own their own gear can
have all of their equipment serviced and repaired by
one of the shop's experienced technicians. The service
department also serves as a Nitrox/air station. If you
are planning a SCUBA trip and need to rent equipment,
Paradise Island Divers has a full line of modern up-to-date
equipment available. Finally, Wayne and his staff put
together monthly SCUBA outings locally and abroad. Wayne's
specialty is ship wrecks. When you visit the shop, be
sure to check Wayne's display of antique SCUBA equipment
and artifacts recovered off the North and South Carolina
coast.
You don't have to be a hard core SCUBA diver to take
advantage of Paradise Island Divers new facilities.
Beginning through advanced swimming lessons are offered
including the very popular Mommy and Me swim lessons
for children as young as six months old. Life Guard
training classes are offered as well.
Wayne told CHF that his philosophy is that quality over
rides quantity. Our instructors feel that it is "Honorable
to Over Train" and "Criminal to Under Train"
you and your loved ones.
