Yoga South - Sacred Space for Body, Mind and Spirit
Corporate mergers, hostile takeovers, mass lay-offs and long hours at the office have transformed society into one big ball of stress. In fact, it's oft been said that one significantly decreases ones life expectancy simply from worrying and stressing. Luckily for you and I, there are people out there who realize that work isn't the end all be all of life. There are much more important things that we need to concern ourselves with. Most importantly, our health. Until now many of us have put our health, both mental and physical on the back burner.
For all of those hard charging corporate types, Marica Hoffheins has just what we need to overcome those feelings of stress and anxiety that consume our day. A product of the corporate grind herself, Marcia moved to Charlotte in 1998 after a stint in the IT field in pursuit of opportunity. At that, she made her opportunity in Yoga, or shall I say Yoga provided the opportunity for her. Marcia got into Yoga out of necessity, more than anything else, to reduce her stress at work. She was always a physically active person. She was a personal trainer, she ran, lifted weights and did the gym membership thing and decided to incorporate one yoga class a week. After realizing how inflexible she was, yoga really started to unwind her in ways that she didn't think was possible. What she found was an amazing social connection from the very beginning. The over all sense of well being, peace of mind and stress reduction forced Marcia to share her experience with the rest of the world.
Yoga South nestled on the edge of Matthews, was born out of Marcia's pursuit of health and well being and her burning desire to help the masses realize that there is much more to life than work. A product of corporate America herself, Marcia's outgoing personality and genuine concern for people speaks volumes for the personable feel that you get upon entering the studio. "The opportunity came to take over the studio, which used to be Yoga of Matthews. So I bought the studio and yoga is really fulfilling for me." With seven full time Yoga Alliance Certified instructors and a personality that is out of this world it's no wonder that Yoga South was voted the best place to practice yoga after just four months of operation.
