It’s
that time of year when shameful caloric temptations
are around every corner and our will to stick to a healthy
diet is challenged by trays of cookies and endless holiday
treats. In just a few weeks, many of us will be vowing
to right the ship and make up for these days of decadence.
And National Discount Nutrition will be there to help.
Born in Wilson, North Carolina in the late 90’s,
National Discount Nutrition, owned and operated by a
team of accredited personal trainers and sports nutritionists,
now has growing a presence in the Charlotte area. With
two conveniently located outlets in Matthews and in
Mooresville, plans are in the works for four more locations
within the next five years.
So what makes National Discount Nutrition different?
For starters, National Discount Nutrition (NDN) is a
sport and health nutrition retail chain, providing a
vast inventory of vitamin, herbal and sport supplements
at or near wholesale pricing. In addition to a vast
array of affordable products, the NDN team consists
of accredited sports nutritionists providing free dietary
advice to their customers aimed at helping people meet
their overall health and well-being goals.
“Customers can expect to be educated on the choices
that will best fit into their fitness goals,” says
owner, Jason Spangler. “We do not offer our own
line of products and that allows us to give unbiased
information on all supplement lines.”
And realizing that true change and overall well-being
have a lot to do with making and maintaining healthy
living choices, the team at NDN offers an annual Body
Transformation Program. This free 12-week program helps
customers learn and implement regimented ideas to lose
unwanted inches and gain quality lean muscle.
“We complete the program right along with our customers,”
adds the other owner, Joe Godwin. “We feel it’s
important not only to provide the information, but also
supply the motivation to finish the course.”
And the NDN team’s influence reaches beyond the
four walls of their physical locations. Thanks to a
loyal customer base, they have relished opportunities
to serve as consultants to the 2002 and 2003 Carolina
Panther Topcats, providing nutritional plans and personal
training tips to help the women maintain top game day
fitness.
In late 2004, NDN established a partnership with PIT
Instruction and Training Institute in Mooresville, helping
future NASCAR pit crewmembers fulfill their nutritional
goals and get in top shape for race season.
While they look forward to continued opportunities in
the corporate health world, the owners of NDN continue
to focus on providing customers with the opportunity
to create a body that looks, feels and performs the
way each individual envisions.
“We operate on a non-commission model,” explains
Godwin. “I believe our customers can really tell
we are more interested in providing them with the information
that allows them to make their own best decisions rather
than just making sales. And that’s what allows
us to build such great long term relationships.”
