Ciarla Fitness
by Debbie Crawford Sturm
We first profiled Ciarla Fitness just a few months after the opening of their state-of-the-art personal training facility in Ballantyne. Born from the vision of Adam Ciarla, certified NCSA Personal Trainer and AHA Cardiac Care Provider, Ciarla Fitness continues to grow and surpass the expectations of their founder and their clientele.
We visited with the folks at Ciarla Fitness to get an update as we enter into the New Year and the peak season for people to seek out the help of a personal trainer to get your resolutions cranking.
What can people expect from you that they would not fi nd somewhere else?
We specialize in personal training programs that are specifi cally designed to the individual’s needs and abilities. Our programs literally differ from person to person and we focus on engaging individuals in a Personal Attention Program to achieve optimal physical performance.
Who is your typical client?
We work with a diverse group of individuals ranging from apparently healthy individuals to those with health issues or injuries. We serve a significant number of athletes on the high school and college level working on agility and strength. And we also cater to a small percentage of “higher risk” or special needs clientele and people needing rehabilitation.
As people enter the New Year and are creating fi tness goals, what advice do you have to offer?
When setting New Years resolutions and fitness goals, start small so you can see results. This helps set the stage for success.
For example, set 100% attendance to your training sessions as your fi rst goal. When clients begin to miss sessions, it really keeps them from seeing a difference in themselves and obtaining their goal.
Our cover story in January is about motivation. How do you capitalize on or foster a client’s motivation for success?
Motivation comes in a lot different ways. It starts with knowing the client and understanding what motivates them. Some people are motivated by physical challenges while others are motivated by accomplishment. Taking the time to really understand this and how to apply it to their fi tness
goals is what ultimately brings success.
What new things will 2007 bring for Ciarla Fitness Inc.?
We are very excited about 2007! We added 1000 square feet to our Ballantyne location which opens up tons of additional training opportunities. And have hired a new phenomenal trainer who holds a BS
in Exercise Physiology and 10 years’ experience with the personal training industry.
We look forward to the development of our golf specific strength and conditioning program. And we have brought on staff a registered dietician with nine years of experience in the Carolina healthcare system to better assist with the clients needs.
We are suited up and ready to help people really achieve their goals and strive for optimal health and performance.
Ciarla Fitness has produced countless success stories. One example is Valerie McKellar. She has been a long time Ciarla client. She originally started training because she was concerned about her cholesterol registering over 250. Not only did she reduce her cholesterol level to a very healthy 130, Valerie has also gone down 6 clothes sizes from size 16 to a size 4. While losing 50 pounds and reducing her measurements a total of 29 inches has been a huge plus, Valerie is most happy just being healthier on the inside and feeling great on the outside. Taking the advice and encouragement offered by Ciarla Fitness has had a huge impact on Valerie’s life.
